A great way to spend Sunday

There’s nothing I love more than a good Sunday brunch. Throw in bubbly into the equation and that’s even better. Most brunches in KL are priced from RM200 onwards, and that excludes tax and service charge.

Mimosa

F Buffalo’s Sunday Brunch Buffet cost RM99++ per person inclusive of free flow mimosa. Depending on your luck, you might be able to ask for cava straight up. But I like the idea of alcoholic orange juice in a champagne flute so mimosa is good.

Assorted cured meat and fresh bread with olive oil

I was here twice – once for the brunch review and most recently with a good friend. The appetiser selection is small – a salad or two, pizza, fresh bread, cold cuts, cheese and soup. You also get a choice of main course; pork sausage with bacon and scrambled egg, seared beef tartare with condiments, smoked salmon egg benedict, and foie gras and egg.

Foie gras and egg

I tried all, save for the beef tartare. That wasn’t available during the review and when I was there the second time, I already knew what I wanted – foie gras and egg. That was decadent stuff. The foie gras was cooked just right and paired beautifully with the soft poached egg and mushroom veloute.

Mushroom soup

Portions are smallish, presumably because it’s brunch. The smoked salmon egg benedict was not bad but I preferred the pork sausage with bacon and scrambled egg. Soups are served on rotation basis; on my first visit, it was mushroom. Nothing ostentatious but good enough to be eaten with bread.

Coffee is also available, but limited to one cup per customer. While the brunch selection is comparatively small, you’re able to try most of the items. Plus, the mimosa sure helps lubricate the entire experience.

*F Buffalo is now a non-halal restaurant.

Verdict: Small but decent brunch selection. One of the more reasonable bubbly brunches around.

F Buffalo looks like it has a great ambiance. I’d love to have the Smoked Salmon Egg Benedict. All in all it’s worth the RM99++ I think.
