I’ve been running Bangsarbabe.com and also my digital marketing agency for the past 2 years — and both the hats I wear brings a different set of treatment and expectation.
Bangsar Babe is a brand that has been around for close to 10 years and it has garnered recognition and a good fan base as a result.
Rhombus Consulting on the other hand is a new venture for me; barely even two years old and the company still hasn’t achieved the potential I envisioned it to be.
As the founder and personality of Bangsarbabe.com, I get plenty of perks. Luxury hotels, business class flights, people to attend to me at events and also the recognition when I’m out and about.
It is a great experience I must admit — why wouldn’t I want those things? But do I deserve them?
NO.
Because those perks are only meant for the position I (Sue Lynn) hold as the founder and personality of an established and recognised brand. As the Creative Director of Rhombus Consulting, I don’t get such treatment. Not even 10% of what I would normally enjoy wearing the BB hat.
Do I deserve it the latter treatment? Yes. Because at the end of the day, I’m just like everyone else. Wearing the second hat is a humbling experience and a reminder that I must be grateful for the perks I receive as Bangsar Babe.
And I’m humbly reminded of this every day. #BeGrateful
