It’s been a while since I had lunch at the food stalls in Lucky Garden, where the Chelo Appam, Yusof Tomyam and Anuar Fish Head Curry stall is. I would usually dine there after work seeing how that’s the only free time I have these days. Fortunately, a recent work meeting in Bangsar allowed me some time to do lunch at Suhanya Corner, just two stalls away from the appam stall.

This stall is recommended by my father in-law, who also told me about the fried nasi lemak they serve in the evenings. Suhanya Corner offers a variety of Indian dishes to go with rice (white or biryani), and although limited, I find the food quite decent. The owner is a friendly man who gave me little samples of the food (using clean spoons) so I can choose better.

Prices are fairly affordable – a plate of rice with fried chicken, brinjal, cabbage and egg cost about RM7 or 8. Tastewise, you can’t go wrong with freshly fried chicken with extra fried batter bits. Very addictive and tasty with rice. I usually mix the curries with white rice to get the best of everything. Often, I go for a combination of mutton, chicken and fish curry.

The eggplant curry is tasty here. I like how it’s not overly spicy and they cook the eggplant till soft but not mushy at the centre. Many places cook this to death, so what you get is mashed eggplant, rather than tender slices.

You can opt to eat your rice with papadam, sold in packets to ensure freshness. I like breaking up the papadam into small bits and eating it with rice. Lunch came up to RM15 (inclusive of two drinks and one rasam) for rif and I. That’s quite reasonable, don’t you think?

By the way, do take note that the maid is pretty grumpy. I usually try to avoid her when placing my orders. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
