Bubbalicious Brunch at Prego, The Westin Kuala Lumpur

Champagne and brunch is always a great idea on weekends – sumptuous brunch spread with glasses of bubbly, and good company of course. It’s been a few years since Jien and I had brunch at Prego, The Westin Kuala Lumpur and quite a lot has changed.

Champagne is always a good idea

The kitchen is helmed by Chef Ricky Parlanti and the brunch is said to be bigger, better and bubblier. I’m not sure about the selection being bigger (it felt the same to me) but it’s definitely bubblier and in some ways, better.

From Italian antipastos and salads and fresh oysters to the assortment of cheese, charcuterie and roasted meats, one would be spoilt for choice. I for one, didn’t know where to start, after a glass of champagne of course. Throughout our time at Prego, waiters came over with pass-around dishes – sometimes pasta, sometimes antipastos and sometimes grilled items.

You can also order freshly cooked pasta from the hot station; classic favourites like fettucine carbonara and meatball Bolognese are popular at brunch. I enjoyed the selection of cheeses and charcuterie, and the fresh off the grill sausages (chicken or lamb) and roasted lamb.

Pizzas will come as a pass-around but I reckon you can request for an entire portion if you like. They are made using a wood-fire oven so the crust is crisp yet lightly chewy.

Remember to leave enough stomach space for dessert (Jien is always the first to do that!) as Prego offers a selection of Italian gelato and Sorbetti on top of house specials like Tiramisu, Sicilian Cannoli Filled with Ricotta, Amaretto Cheesecake and Ginaduja Chocolate Cake.

The Food & Champagne package is priced at RM375 nett per person and includes free flow of champagne (Moet), red & white wine, beer, soft drinks and chilled juices. The Food & Beverage package is RM275 per person and includes free flow sparkling, red & white wine, beer, soft drinks and chilled juices. Food only package is priced at RM175 nett per person.
