Birthday Weekend

I had the most amazing birthday weekend last week, where I celebrated my special day with a group of close friends, family members and my beloved half. It was a three day celebration that started with a private dinner at Prime with friends where Chef Antoine and his team planned and served us an amazing four-course dinner.

I’ve been a regular at Prime since 5 years ago and the food we had that night was top class. It was the best meal I’ve had at this steakhouse and kudos to Chef Antoine for going all out to make sure my guests and I were well taken care of.

Give me good steak and I can conquer the world! 😛

Mise en bouche: Slow-cooked braised Wagyu beef cheek

To start: Pan-fried duck foie gras

Main course: Charcoal grilled Wagyu Rib Eye Marble 9 (300gm)

The Wagyu ribeye most of us had was fantastic, a marble 9 that was cooked to perfection. I’m so impressed that each of our preferred doneness were noted and delivered with finesse. The flavour and texture of the beef was just so amazing, no steakhouse in Kuala Lumpur comes close.

Since we booked a private room, I got to enjoy dinner and drinks without worrying about interrupting other guests at the restaurant. Of course, there was plenty of Haig Club to drink that night. Maybe a bit too much, since we were at the restaurant till midnight. Time flies when we’re having fun hehe.

To my friends who attended (you know who you are), thank you for taking the time to celebrate the occasion with me. And thank you for the lovely gifts! Special thanks to my sister in-law of One More Bite, for baking me such amazing cakes every year. I can imagine how difficult it must be, since I can be quite fickle minded.

Our private getaway at The Villas

The following day, rif whisked me off to a mini getaway to The Villas at Sunway Resort. He made special arrangements for my day – soothing massage at Mandara Spa, cocktail session at the lounge and a romantic candlelight dinner in our villa. I like how it’s private yet casual so we get to be our (goofy) selves.

Come midnight, he further surprised me with a small cake and a gift – a beautiful necklace from Tiffany. I couldn’t have asked for more. So touched and I feel so loved!

On the morning of my birthday, rif arranged for breakfast to be served in our villa to allow me to further relax in the room and enjoy a dip in the pool. Checked out and headed to lunch with the in-laws, where I had my third birthday cake.

Best weekend ever!

I’ve been very lucky with the weather too – it didn’t rain during our stay at The Villas and the sky was clear at Marini’s. The view from our table was amazing last night. Unadulterated view of KL city skyline. Thank you rif, for making my weekend so amazing! Am so glad things turned out better than expected. Thank you for making me feel so loved and pampered! 🙂
