Hotel Review: Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside

by Bangsar Babe

I’ve become increasingly fond of hotel staycations as they can really take your mind off things and help you unwind from a long week. It wasn’t too long ago that I enjoyed a weekend stay at Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside, said to be the first premier ‘Malaysian Icon’ Hotel. The hotel is a 20 minutes drive from KL City Centre (more if you’re travelling during rush hour) and 25 minutes from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

View of The Village from my room

Check-in was swift and the staff were courteous and helpful. I stayed at the Rafflesia Wing, where my room came equipped with high-speed internet access, LCD TV, coffee and tea making facilities, and 24 hour in-room dining. The rooms on Rafflesia Wing are inspired by Borneo architecture and boast a view of the Putrajaya Lake.

Large and cosy bed

Beds are very important to me and the one offered at Pullman was comfortable and plush. The pillows were large and provided good neck support, while the comforter was thick yet soft enough to snuggle under.

Welcome treats

Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside offers 5 F&B outlets – B’s (all day dining), The Village, China Bar & Lounge, Bar on Third and The Deli @ Pullman. Breakfast buffet is at B’s, where hotel guests tuck into an array of local and Western delights. Do take note though; the place gets pretty packed during weekends as the hotel is a favourite among families.

Lunch at B’s is also a worthwhile experience. Unlike my not so great experience 4 years back, the hotel has since revamped its F&B division. The Village is Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside’s signature restaurant, with attap roofing and supported by stilts. Do try the Mediterranean selection here – the seafood dishes are quite good.

Spa room

The hotel offers one of the largest hotel spas in the country – with 10 treatment rooms and 9 spa concept rooms. I enjoyed a rejuvenation session, which you can read about here.

State-of-the-art fitness centre

For gym enthusiasts, the fit lounge opens from 6am to 10pm daily and comes equipped with elliptical trainers, recumbent stationary bikes, treadmills and an array of weight machines for your preferred workout regime. There is also a Kid’s Club, where children and explore their creativity via activities and games (supervised).

Swimming pool & kid’s pool with sundeck

The pool is very popular among hotel guests so it gets pretty crowded come evening. A kid’s pool is also available. Alternatively, guests can enjoy various water sports activities by the lake or embark on a leisurely cruise.

Hotel tour

My stay at the hotel was an enjoyable, albeit short one. That said, I left feeling relaxed and ready to take on Monday at the office. Or so I thought. Truth is, you’re never quite ready for Monday hahaha! 😛
