rif and I enjoyed a 2-night stay at the Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel recently, where we were given a room with a breath-taking view of the Victoria Harbour. This 5-star hotel is situated on the waterfront just five minutes from the CBD and Wan Chai MTR station. Star Ferry is just a few hundred metres away from the hotel, making it a very convenient place to stay at when you’re in Hong Kong.
Check-in was swift despite the full house; we were there during the Hong Kong Electronics Fair. By the way, the hotel has 805 rooms and 52 suites, spanned across 42 floors.
Our room was spacious by Hong Kong’s standard and all corners were cleverly utilised and maximised, including the bathroom. Each room comes with high-speed internet access (also available on hotel grounds), LCD TV, in-room safe and coffee and tea making facilities for that morning cuppa. There is also a welcome tea set up and books on Hong Kong history and culture.
Other facilities include a heated outdoor pool, gym, golf, playground, tennis court and a fitness trail. Babysitting service, baby bot and baby bath tub is provided upon request so do call the concierge to inquire further.
Renaissance Hong Kong boasts three F&B outlets – Dynasty Restaurant (award winning Chinese restaurant), Café Renaissance and The Lounge. I had the pleasure of dining at Dynasty during my first visit to Hong Kong early this year and the food was delicious.
It can get pretty crowded at Café Renaissance during breakfast, especially during full occupancy. Nonetheless, the staff were efficient and food was taken out of the kitchen consistently. Also, I liked how detailed they were with food presentation and embellishments.
It is easy to get around from the hotel. You can either do so using the Star Ferry or MTR to cross over to the mainland. I personally like using the ferry but if you’re pressed for time, it’s better to use the MTR.
As I write this, the hotel is undergoing renovation in phases, in an effort to upgrade to serve guests better. The room I stayed in was one of the newly renovated ones so if you’re planning to stay here, do specify that in your booking request.
One of the USP for Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel is the spectacular view – the property offers one of the best views of Hong Kong from the island, I feel. For those staying in the rooms with harbour view, you’re in for a treat!
Hong Kong’s premier dining and entertainment destination – Lan Kwai Fong – is approximately 10 minutes away from the hotel. Perfect for those who want a hangout spot after work or even for a night out. The Peak is also situated nearby the hotel – offering a 360-degree panoramic view of Hong Kong. Just a ferry ride away (you can also take the MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui) is Harbour City, a one-stop shopping experience with a selection of fashion and trendy brands.
Renaissance Hong Kong is also very near the city’s financial district (around Central) and Causeway Bay, one of Hong Kong’s major shopping districts. And I do like staying at the island part of Hong Kong. Less chaotic, I feel.
We had a lovely time at the hotel – service was consistently good and efficient. For more information about Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel, visit the official website here.

The playground is quite spacious, kids definitely can have fun there!
Yup. Your kids would love this. 😉
Indeed, this hotel is the best for travelers, mostly for a family vacation. There’s a space for children’s activities. The foods they offer seems to be delicious and tasty. It is so tempting to taste it. Excited to visit there with my family. Thanks to this Bangsar Babe.
