Nasi Kandar Kudu Bin Abdul, Jalan TAR

by Bangsar Babe

"Nasi Kandar satu....kuah campur!"

Just a stone’s throw away from Nasi Kandar Ibramsha, I find the nasi kandar at Kudu bin Abdul slightly tastier than the former. I reckon many people feel the same way, as the queue here is almost twice as long. I had to queue for a good 20 minutes before I got to the front of the line.

While waiting for my turn, I saw a man taking kari telur ikan (fish egg curry) and it looked promising. I asked for the ayam madu (honey chicken), fish egg curry, a few pieces of okra and kuah banjir. My plate cost me slightly less than RM10, which was reasonable considering how the fish egg was fairly large.

The combination of curries gave the rice a delicious aroma and flavour. If you like your rice to be extra ‘banjir’ you can always ask them for an extra plate of kari campur. I found the honey chicken juicy and tender, and it went nicely with my curried rice. The fish egg gave the dish a creamy, lemak flavour; I enjoyed this.

I was told the prawn curry is worth trying, but a plate of rice with prawn curry and egg can go up to RM20. Maybe I’ll try this next time when I’m feeling more generous.

Food: 7/10
Verdict: The Nasi Kandar here is quite good, but depending on your order, prices can be steep.

looks like the halfway-perfect plate of nasi kandar! add some cockles & chicken liver, and it’d be 100 percent perfect! (it’s great how everyone has different opinions about which ingredients contribute to the ideal plate of nasi kandar, rite) :D

visiting nasi kandar stall is always a love-hate affair……i’d love to take all the dishes but always hate the oh-so-small plate!

personally i do not like to banjir my nasi as it “psychologically” looks unhealthy, i always ask for a separate bowl of curry so i think i normally ended up having more curry than the banjir version. lol.

Extra banjir? LOL! Is that a new term or did I just miss something?

It’s a term for greedy people. You’re far from greedy. ;)

This looks delicious! It’s the fish roe that has me craving for it at 4 am in the morning. :D :D :D

I always kuah campur banjir too, makes everything taste better!

If it doesn’t cause high cholesterol, I would eat fish roe very often! ;)

Kudu is dirty and smelly.

Just found out a new nasi kandar place in KL although it’s been there for ages. It’s Nasi Kandar Sithique Pulau Pinang located in Brickfields, just opposite Menara Shell near KL Sentral.

Very nice nasi kandar. Very clean restaurant and it’s affordable.
