Mid-Autumn Festival for me symbolises reunion where family gather over dinner and watch the full moon. Of course, there will always be plenty of mooncakes to eat and lanterns to play. This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival sees hotels and brands showcasing beautiful mooncake packaging on top of their signature and innovation creations – perfect for gifting and also to share with loved ones.
Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur
Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur showcases two mooncake packaging – Luxuriant Jewelry Box and Abundance Box from Lady Yi’s Tea House. The Luxuriant Jewelry Box (RM158) doubles up as a trinket box, with illustrations of a leaping rabbit by artist Lisa Wong. You can choose to purchase a box of 4 mooncakes (RM118 and 158 per set) or individual mooncakes, priced at RM33 per piece.
Flavours include Lady Yi’s 11 Treasures Tea, white lotus seed with single yolk, red bean and green tea. My personal favourite is the Lady Yi’s 11 Treasure Tea as you can really smell and taste the aroma and quality of the tea.

Shangri-la Kuala Lumpur
I really like Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur’s Over The Moon Mooncake Collection this year because of they offer a DIY Mooncake Gift Set for kids (RM225). It’s interactive and educational, and I get to teach my little girls the meaning of Mid-Autumn while letting them have fun.
Of course, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur’s signature flavours are not to be missed – red bean with dried tangerine skin, assorted nuts and the hotel’s sought-after Premium Musang King Ping Pei (RM388 for a box of 6 musang king snowskin mooncakes).
They also have innovative ping pei flavours such as raspberry and chilli padi, green apple and wasabi, strawberry and yogurt or black sesame and Nutella. Something for the traditionalist, the adventurous and the little ones – clever!

Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel
Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel presents a selection of snowskin mooncakes infused with TWG Tea, on top of their baked mooncakes this year. This collaboration with TWG Tea comprises four tea-licious flavours – TWG Caravan Tea, TWG Red Chai Tea, TWG Pomme Prestige Tea and TWG Pink Flamingo Tea.
I enjoyed the red chai tea mooncake as it comes with hints of spices at the end, which is unique. These handcrafted mooncakes come in an option of three elegant chest boxes with delicate Chinese elements: Peony Jade, Lilac Blossom and Premium Turquoise.
For box sets of classic baked mooncakes, the Peony Jade and Lilac Blossom are priced at RM126nett and the Premium Turquoise is RM143nett. For box sets of snow skin mooncakes, the Peony Jade and Lilac Blossom are priced at RM148nett and Premium Turquoise is RM168nett.
