It’s been close to 6 years since I last visited Bangkok and the city has changed quite a bit – better, in fact. Jien was there on a work assignment so I tagged along for a short retreat and also to pick up a few items for the office studio.
We arrived late evening on a Saturday and headed straight to dinner, where he made a booking for dinner with a view at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. If you want a table by the riverside (trust me, you would), you will need to call the hotel in advance to secure a spot.
Jien and I also checked out two bars during our time in the city – Iron Balls and Sing Sing Theatre. I really enjoyed Iron Balls; their gin & tonic is amazing and we even bought a bottle of gin to bring home. Sing Sing on the other hand was disappointing. Drinks were watered down and service was standoff-ish. 🙁
I left the city on Monday morning to head back to work. A really short trip but I enjoyed myself. Bangkok has really changed and we both liked what we saw this time around. Jien and I are definitely revisiting for leisure soon! Plus, a little bit of shopping can’t hurt. 😉
