For my birthday, rif booked us a weekend stay at The Villas at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa – a private enclave with plenty of greenery and just a short walk to Sunway Pyramid. Admittedly, I was not aware Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa had such a stay option and the villa we stayed at was rather impressive.

Rattan furniture is a feature at The Villas
Upon arrival at the lobby of Sunway Resort Hotel, we were taken to The Villas in a small van where the check-in process was done at Pavilion. This is also the place where breakfast and evening cocktails are served but during our stay, this option wasn’t available. We were instead, asked to head to the hotel’s club lounge for evening cocktails. :(

Bathroom amenities

Plunge pool and an outdoor lounge
Our villa had a plunge pool and outdoor terrace which we really enjoyed. A spacious bathroom with private rain shower and deep sunken bath, a balcony, lounge area and a plush king sized bed which was decorated with rose petals and swan shaped towels when we arrived. I believe you will need to inform the staff beforehand and make special arrangements for this service. I’m not sure about the extra charges (if any) since rif arranged for it so call the hotel to inquire.

Mandara Spa
After a short dip in the plunge pool, rif took me for a pampering session at Mandara Spa where I had one hour of aromatherapy massage before whisking me off to our evening cocktail session at the hotel’s club lounge situated in the main building.

Pavilion

Cocktail session at the Club Lounge
I was slightly disappointed that we couldn’t do the cocktail session at Pavilion, but the food at the Club Lounge was decent enough – mostly Indian cuisine with a choice of red or white wine, soft drinks, beer and coffee or tea. Plus I didn’t want to kick up a fuss, seeing how much effort rif put into making things happen.

The man who made it all happen. :)

Our table setting for dinner in our villa
rif arranged for us to have dinner at our villa and had the staff decorate the table at the outdoor terrace with rose petals and candles. It was so romantic and yes, I admit I’m quite a sucker for these things of late. Not all the time but on special occasions, I love being pampered this way.

Couldn’t have asked for more

Grilled Fish

Roast chicken

Dessert
Dinner wasn’t much to shout about but I’ll give them “A” for effort. The sup tulang was pretty good, as was his Caesar salad. But my chicken was dry and tasteless, while his fish was slightly soggy from being kept in the food warmer. But I still enjoyed dinner because we got to dine in private and the weather was lovely that night.

Amenities
The rain shower is quite powerful – something I look for in a good hotel, and the amenities provided were of good quality. The furniture is of handmade rattan and since we’re living amidst lush greens, mosquito coils and repellent comes provided.

Breakfast situation

Morning face
We opted to have breakfast in our villa as the Pavilion was closed due to low occupancy and I didn’t feel like joining the masses at the buffet spread in the main hotel restaurant. Breakfast wasn’t much to shout about but I was more interested in chilling in the plunge pool.

Mimosa, is always a good idea!

If only I had a pool like this
So we ate a little before taking the rest of the Mimosa to the pool and spent the rest of our morning there until it was time to shower and check out. Service was commendable and the staff were all pleasant throughout our stay.
Thank you rif, for such an amazing weekend! I couldn’t ask for better. :)
