Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Ramadhan Buffet

by Bangsar Babe

In anticipation of fasting month, I had a preview of what it would be like to Buka Puasa at Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside where a sumptuous “Jom Balik Kampung” spread awaited. I reckon this hotel is one of the more popular venues for corporate functions around the vicinity and the spread had a good variety of kampung favourites.

Ghazal Performance

Mention “buka puasa” spread and lamb (kambing panggang) is almost always a feature. Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside did a pretty good version that night – the lamb was crisp on the outside, tender and rimmed with just enough fat for flavour. If you’re not a fan of lamb, there’s also roast beef with your choice of BBQ, mushroom or mustard sauce.

Asam Laksa

I’ve always enjoyed the oxtail soup here and this time around, it didn’t disappoint. Also worth checking out is the noodle station – it was asam laksa and mee kari when I went, and both tasted quite authentic.

Sotong and ketam bakar

Do try the Ikan Bakar Corner, where the seafood is freshly cooked and served hot. I loved the squid and ikan pari, barbequed till tender and delicious with sambal cili. The fried squid was also tasty; seasoned with spices and batter fried. I kept going back for more.

Pasembor and Rojak Singapore

As the buffet selection is mostly masakan kampung, expect a very decent rendang ayam, rendang daging, udang masak nenas, ayam masak merah…the whole works. You’ll be spoilt for choice. The rojak pasembor unfortunately didn’t taste as good as it looked. The cucur was soggy and I found the batter too thick. 🙁

Linguine Carbonara

There’s also a pasta station for those who wish to customise their noodles; I enjoyed the linguine carbonara with beef bacon. If memory serves me right, they also do a decent spaghetti Bolognese and seafood marinara. Pity I had no stomach space left for those.
