Janes and Hooch in Beijing is possibly one of the best bars in Beijing, oozing Chicago-style appeal beyond its unassuming entrance. The décor is tastefully glamorous – exposed brick and wood panelled walls, polished cement floors and lighting so dim, it feels like I’ve stepped into a different era.
The menu is solid and cocktails are priced between (RMB 70–100), very reasonable considering the types of mixes used. I asked Warren to make me a flight of cocktails and was incredibly pleased with them. 😀 😀 These were the cocktails I tried:
The cocktails at Janes & Hooch are very good. No nonsense, hard on (quality) booze and minimal frills. All cocktails should be this straightforward and simple. The bar is located in Chaoyang district, a few doors away from the famous 1949 Peking Duck.
