Hotel Review: Holiday Inn Melaka
Holiday Inn Melaka is one of the newest hotels in Melaka that is centrally located and offers a great view of the Straits of Malacca. Boasting 275 rooms, the hotel makes an ideal option for those looking for a short getaway and corporate guests.
I stayed here over the weekend last month and enjoyed access to the range facilities and dining options available. Since rif and I are no strangers to Melaka, we didn’t face any problems locating the hotel – it is located opposite Mahkota Parade.
Despite the high occupancy rate (the hotel is highly sought after for weddings, functions and annual dinners), check-in was a breeze. The staff were efficient and hospitable. Our deluxe room was spacious, with a lovely view of the Straits.
The room comes with a safety deposit box, flat screen TV, toilet amenities, hairdryer, and coffee and tea making facilities. Those staying in the suites will enjoy access to the executive lounge – for evening cocktails, nibbles and breakfast. There’s nothing like a glass of wine at 5pm to unwind from the day. Not that I needed any unwinding haha! 😛
Holiday Inn Melaka offers facilities for disabled guests, complimentary parking as well as free shuttle service to tourist attractions. Besides exploring the historical offerings of Melaka, guests can also enjoy a massage at the Tea Tree Spa, work up a sweat at the gym or go for a swim at the outdoor swimming pool.
The hotel has two dining options (excluding the lobby bar) – es.sense for all-day dining and Sirocco for Italian food. My dinner at Sirocco was a pleasant one and the food was quite decent.
Buffet breakfast is available at es.sense, but since the hotel is often fully occupied, it gets quite overwhelming during peak times. I strongly suggest you get there before 8am or have your breakfast at 10am when the crowd dies down.
Alternatively, you can enjoy a quieter but simpler breakfast at the executive lounge if you’re a guest at the hotel suite. I was given access to this and preferred this to the breakfast at es.sense despite the small selection.
If you’re looking to enjoy a short weekend away in Melaka, Holiday Inn Melaka would be a good choice for accommodation because of its location. From the hotel, you can easily get to the array of Melaka hawker delights (read all about my Top 10 Food To Eat in Melaka).
Taking into consideration the hotel’s location and affordable pricing, rif and I plan to stay here when we’re down in Melaka for Chinese New Year next year. For more information and to check for room rates, visit Holiday Inn Melaka’s official website here and “Like” Holiday Inn Melaka on Facebook.

Hi there Bangsar Babe. Just to inform you that your article info is perhaps wrong as you state that it’s ” one of the newest hotels in Melaka”but if I’m not mistaken the hotel has been there since 2008 so perhaps an edit on your site & on Tripadvisor would be appropriate. Do correct me if I’m wrong!
Hi Charles,
Thanks for letting me know. If I’m not mistaken, it is one of the newer hotels in Melaka. Will check with the hotel PR. 🙂
