During my stay at The Westin Langkawi, I enjoyed a spa session at Heavenly Spa by Westin, a stunning beachfront property with a gorgeous view of the Andaman Sea. The place is spacious and the spa menu offers a range of treatments – Malay, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Turkish, Swedish and Indonesian.
I opted for the Heavenly Massage, an 80-minute session of signature massage to improve circulation and boost energy levels. The experience started as soon as I stepped into the waiting area. I was warmly greeted by the therapist and ushered to the comfortable sofa seats to fill in my particulars.
While waiting for the massage room to be ready, I walked around the area to enjoy the view of the sea and its gentle breeze. I also liked the unique cocoon chairs at the waiting area and the Thai massage beds on the pool surface.
My massage room was spacious with graceful décor, soothing water elements and calming spa music. Heavenly Spa uses White Tea products, said to be an elixir of youth due to its antioxidant properties. A warm herbal pouch is applied on my back to release tensions. This felt very good.
Soon after, my therapist massaged and undid the stubborn knots on around my shoulders with my choice of aromatherapy oil. It was a calming and restorative experience. I almost fell asleep but made myself stay awake to enjoy the process.
I walked out of the massage room feeling absolutely relaxed and terribly pampered. If that wasn’t enough, I then proceeded to the outdoor pool area for my Spa by Night. The set up was amazing and I got to watch the sunset while waiting for my personal waiter to bring me my dinner.

Lemon dill cured sea bass with curry vinaigrette, harissa marinated calamari and cucumber onion salad
To start, I tucked into some lemon dill cured sea bass with curry vinaigrette, harissa marinated calamari and cucumber onion salad. The sea bass was fresh and tasty from the seasoning. I also liked the calamari, which was tender and justly cooked.
I had a glass of Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc 2012 – robust fruity flavour and crisp finish – and it paired nicely with the dishes I had.

Grilled garlic prawns, sea bass and curried scallops, served with baked potato, charbroiled root vegetables and finished with a ginger beurre blanc
Even better was the combination of grilled garlic prawns, sea bass and curried scallops, served with baked potato, charbroiled root vegetables and finished with a ginger beurre blanc. Kudos to the chef, for successfully pairing the scallops with curry spices. It was delicious!
The grilled garlic prawns were fresh, as was the sea bass. The beurre blanc went well with these.
For dessert, I enjoyed a duo of green tea and passion fruit creme brulee. I liked the green tea version better, but rif preferred the latter as it was less rich.
On the whole, the entire experience was truly heavenly. From lush amenities and soothing massages to a wholesome dinner, I was spoilt silly. As I hopped on the buggy back to the hotel, I knew it was a spa experience I’ll remember for a long time.
The Heavenly Massage cost RM360 per pax, while the Spa by Night was RM195 per pax. For more information about Heavenly Spa, please click here. To know more about Spa by Night, click here.
