Las Vacas might not have won the Best Steakhouse for Timeout KL Food Awards, but if there is a best lamb burger award, the title goes deservedly to this restaurant-butchery. I was told the burgers are quite good and I’ve been ordering one since my first try.
rif and I ordered the lamb burger and another 350gm beef burger at the latest Las Vacas outlet in Yap Kwan Seng. You should have seen the look on that waiter’s face when I asked for the 350gm patty.
And he reluctantly wrote down the order, after a failed attempt to get me to settle for the 150gm patty. Clearly, he had no idea how insignificant a 350gm burger is to me, next to 2kg of ribeye.
Anyway, the beef burger was not bad, but it was the lamb burger that knocked my socks off. This is the best lamb burger I’ve eaten so far. The patty is juicy, nicely seasoned and still had the lamb flavour. Many lamb patties are over seasoned to kill off the gamey taste, but at Las Vacas, the balance was perfect. I also liked how they managed to grill the patty till medium, and it was juicy all over.
The beef burger as just as well grilled as the lamb version, but the patty was less interesting. Each 350gm burger (RM35) came with a sunny side up on top and a side of chips. While the sides were average, I’d still go back for the lamb burger. I’ve eaten the lamb burger at this outlet and also the Mon’t Kiara outlet. Both were as good.
If you’re at Las Vacas and want something other than steak, give the lamb burger a try. I’m quite keen on trying the lamb burger with 500gm patty next. Who wants a chow down? #loserpays 😀

Hmmmm…need to pay them a visit and try their lamb burger…and c how it compares to my current fav Kiwi Lamb Burger at Antipodean…thanx for the heads up…hehe =)
I haven’t tried the Kiwi Lamb Burger. Antipodean’s breakfast disappointed me so badly, I never ate there again. Only coffee. 🙂
Aiya…forget abt the breakfast…try their Kiwi Lamb Burger…add-on pork bacon plus brie cheese…I bet u will love it…or maybe not…hehe 😛
Hmmmm…will remember that when I’m there for coffee next.
Oh btw…is there a in-between 150g and 350g lamb patty? If there is…I might go for it with a double-egg…hahahaha 😀
I don’t think there’s an in between. Just eat only la! 😛
OMG! las vacas should make a 1 kg lamb burger just for you! anyways, the one you had looks great. i’ve only had las vacas’ beef burger, and yeah, it was nice, but i definitely should try the lamb burger next 😀
Hahaha…I actually don’t mind that. 😀
500gm patty? Wow, better go easy on it..lol
Hehehe…after that, I’ll do a 1-week vege and fruit diet. 😉
We can choose the weigh of the patty?
Yup. Got three sizes.
Background:
It was a nice evening just a few weeks back — we just checked into our hotel nearby and thought we’d have steak. This place came recommended and so we went. It was just the two of us.
Ambience 2/5:
The ambience wasn’t too bad — it was quaint, quiet, and had an interesting layout albeit bare interior decor.
Food 1/5:
We both ordered steak with me ordering the sirloin. Food came rather quickly but when I took the first bite it was tough-as-hell, chewey, and impossible to eat. They were also extremely stingy with their sides. Overall it was very disappointing. But here’s where it gets worse…
Service -1/5:
I called the waiter over, she was clearly a senior waitress, Chinese, and not friendly to begin with but I didn’t care — the steak was horribly tough and I wanted it changed. Having told her the issue, she looked back and said, “it’s suppose to be this way. You ordered sirloin right? It’s tough one.” She refused to change it.
I really am too annoyed to even continue this review, but if you want someplace with good steak, LAS VACAS IS NOT the place to get it at! I feel that I need to warn people about this place. It ruined my anniversary dinner completely 🙁
