Waking up to the smell of coffee is one of the little pleasures in life that isn’t easily available, unless 1) You own/sleep in a cafe, 2) You’re dating a barista or 3) You invest in a state-of-the-art coffee machine that can potentially cost as much as a car.
Let’s be realistic — who has the time to make cafe-like coffee for themselves in the morning? The prep work takes as much time as running to a nearby coffee place and getting your fix. That’s where the Nescafé Gold Blend Barista comes in; a user-friendly coffee machine that operates with just a touch of the button.
The latest coffee machine from Nescafé allows you to make five types of coffee (Espresso, Lungo, Americano, Cappuccino and Latte) in one single touch. And there’s hardly a need to clean up because no coffee beans/capsules are used. You only need to wash your cup after you finish your coffee.
Sounds like a dream since I’m not enthused about the clean-up part; I dislike washing up. The Nescafé Gold Blend Barista doesn’t require a capsule and caters to urban working adults like myself where we’re always on the go and need our coffee fix.
Of course, I’m not claiming it removes the need for a barista (they are still very important to me) but it is a good alternative for those who need a coffee fix and aren’t big on the instant packet solutions.
It’s been a week since I got my hands on the machine in my favourite colour (red) and so far, so good. I think it’s also quite affordable as a cup of coffee costs between RM0.50 to RM1.50, depending on the milk you use. No milk, the cheaper (obviously). So that’s a more economical option in the long run.
Unlike cafes where the milk goes in last, the milk goes in first when you’re making a latte or cappuccino with the Nescafé Gold Blend Barista. The machine costs RM245 and is currently available online and is expected soon at all major supermarkets. In the current promotion the machine comes with a pack of Nescafé Gold Blend — note that the machine only works if you use Gold Blend.
