Feeka at Jalan Mesui has the makings of a good café – cosy, unpretentious and spacious, perfect for lazy brunches and casual coffee sessions. The alfresco area is potentially a good place to catch up on some reading when the weather is kinder.
What I find lacking at Feeka however, is the service. Which translated to me as “I couldn’t care less about your coffee and your experience”. Perhaps it was our luck that evening where our jaded waitress plonked the mille crepe across the table instead of placing it in front of us nicely. She did the same thing with the chocolate tart a few minutes later.
To be fair, the mille crepe (RM13) was pretty good, as expected since these are the same people who run Food Foundry and Sitka. We had the salted caramel and almond version, which was well chilled, smooth and luscious. Less impressive was the chocolate coffee tart (RM14) as it had only a faint trace of coffee.
My flat white (RM10) suffered the same outcome as the tart where the milk was more pronounced than the coffee. This tasted more like a mild latte than a flat white. rif’s Iced Long Black (RM9) was better but somewhat on the mild side. It had a fruity flavour and didn’t quite do the trick to jolt us from our lunch coma.
Ambiance: 6.5/10
Price: 6/10
Food: 5.5/10 (pork free)
Verdict: Try the mille crepe and if you want your coffee strong, ask for an extra shot.
