Latest Recipe at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur serves good buffet and remains one of my favourite buffet restaurants in Kuala Lumpur till this day. I’ve always enjoyed the spread here – they offer really tasty Indian food, a live pasta station featuring handmade noodles, local delights, fresh seafood, teppanyaki and mean desert selection.
Each year, the buka puasa spread is equally exciting. There’s always a good roast section and masakan kampong such as ayam masak gulai merah and masak lemak cili padi daging salai. This year, Chef Zubir returns to the hotel as a guest chef, where he dishes up some of his favourite dishes inspired by his mother’s cooking.
The buffet selection features a kerabu station comprising salads from various states in Malaysia. I love the variations from the east coast (Kelantan & Terengganu), because the salads are fiery and more ‘lemak’. Roasted baby lamb was beautifully tender and well flavoured with spices and seasoning. I also enjoyed the soup gear-box, which was rich in flavour and had a peppery finish. Pity I was a tad late that night, for all the bone marrow was gone.
To enhance the buka puasa experience, there is a live goreng goreng corner with street snacks suck as fried chempedak, yam, sweet potato and assorted cucur. And freshly fried cucur udang with chilli sauce is seriously good stuff.
The Japanese, Western, Chinese and Indian sections will remain throughout buka puasa month – to give more variety and choices to those who dine at Latest Recipe. I kid you not when I say they make awesome prawn teppanyaki. Succulent, bouncy prawns coated in a light cream sauce with crushed black pepper…so good!
I almost never make it to the dessert section because there’s so much to try. But the waffles at Latest Recipe are worth trying. Ask for a freshly made one and slather a layer of butter, before topping it with vanilla ice cream.
The Traditional Feast at Latest Recipe is available from 29 June to 27 July 2014, priced at RM138++ per person (Monday – Friday) and RM128++ per person (Saturday & Sunday). Buffet spread includes free flow of date juice, sirap bandung, sugar cane juice and soya bean milk.

Hi Bangsar Babe, great post!
I would like to highlight if there’s a typo on the price, as the price is lower on weekend compared to weekday, per your typing. :)
Just a little nit picking, still, the photos and description you gave the food made me salivate all the way! Keep it up!
Hi Ginn,
Thanks for the comment. There is no typo, as the price is really lower on weekends. ;)
