Penang is a great place to indulge in all the hawker food you want — the list is neverending, from char kuay teow to nasi kandar to the famous Penang cendol (refer to the list here). When I was there on my annual “chow tut” recently, I checked out a few coffee places and Full of Beans was one of them.
With two outlets in Queensbay Mall and Straits Quay, the folks at Full of Beans take their coffee (and beans) seriously. I prefer the ambiance here to Ete Cafe, as the chairs are more comfortable and the place has air-conditioning. The beans are grounded upon order to ensure good aroma and lively flavours.
I opted for the Brazil Santos (RM9.50), prepared using the siphon method. This was fairly full bodied and bold. As the coffee cooled down, the acidity reduced, leaving me with a smoother flavour and floral aroma.
rif’s latte was not too bad albeit slightly pricier at RM12.50 per cup. That said, I do like their detail for attention in each cup. Also, the coffee spoons are quirky and genius! We enjoyed the experience and would come back for a cuppa when we’re around the area. 🙂
