As a Foo Chow/Hock Chew, I have many fond memories of the red rice wine mee suah. I remember stealing sips of the soup prepared for my mum, during her confinement period. I remember liking only my mother and paternal grandmother’s red rice wine because they have ‘sweeter’ hands (my maternal grandmother’s red rice wine was sourish). And I remember eating it every Chinese New Year in Sitiawan.
Yes, I’m a true blue Foo Chow/Hock Chew, and proud of it! That’s why I’ve decided to introduce a few of my favourite Foo Chow dishes in this video blog. Enjoy!

I love food that triggers memories of childhood … and haha… as you describe it, confinement periods!
The video looks much better in this installment, great to see you practising "continuous improvement" in your blogging!
Yummms … from Abu Dhabi!
foo chow food always seems fascinatingly unique and pretty painstaking to prepare. but my dad is hakka and my mom is hainanese, so i don't think i have a true-blue chinese culinary heritage! 😀
