I’ve always had a thing for burgers – whether it’s the local Ramly burger or gourmet ones with Wagyu patty. A good burger usually starts with a solid patty and buns that can withstand the meat and sauces. Most burger joints claim to make their own patties these days and while there are quite a few around, not many stood out.
Burgertory in SS15 Subang has been around for a couple of years but it wasn’t until recently that I gave them a try. You place your order at the counter and the staff will send the food over when it’s ready. I was there for a late dinner so it wasn’t crowded and I got my burger within 15 minutes or so.
The Sumo Burger (RM22) was pretty good – a sizable double beef patty burger with double cheddar cheese. This was pretty good. I liked how the patty was juicy and full of flavour; there was a good balance of meat to fat ratio. It was one of the better patties I’ve eaten so far.
I wasn’t as impressed with the Bacon Paradise (RM20), with homemade candy pork bacon, cheddar cheese and pork patty. While this was as porky as it sounds, it wasn’t as tasty as the sumo burger. It could be because pork is generally drier than beef, hence the outcome.
The Cheesy Bacon Bits (RM13.50) came with a generous amount of bacon on top – a great option for those who plan to share their starters. You can opt to make your burger into a combo meal for RM9.50; you get a portion of fries, onion rings and mozzarella cheese sticks, plus soft drinks.
On the whole, I enjoyed the food at Burgertory. Service was friendly and I wouldn’t mind coming back for another Sumo Burger. 😉

Verdict: The beef patty is pretty good here. If you’re hungry, go for the double patty.
