With Christmas Eve less than 10 days away, we’re probably all hunting for a good place to dine or for restaurants that can supply a turkey large enough to feed the entire family. Mezze offers both options – a sumptuous dinner menu for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and a takeaway menu that includes a whole turkey, Christmas Ham and duck liver pate.
I had the privilege of trying the former and will soon be enjoying the whole turkey as I placed an order for my family’s Christmas Eve dinner celebration. Mezze has always been my go-to restaurant for good food and like their ala carte options, the set dinner menu did not disappoint.
I had a mix of both the Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve menu where the House Spice-smoked Foie Gras reigned supreme. This came with Mezze’s house-made brioche and I liked that it wasn’t overly creamy and still retained its rustic flavours. The Prawn Bisque was also good stuff; served with a side of rouille, cheese and croutons.
Mezze makes their own sausages and the Xmas Pork Sausage with beetroot and kale was good stuff. There were plenty of peppery notes from the seasoning and a lovely sharpness from the kale. Those who want a lighter start to the meal should opt for the Tuna Tartare – this was light yet well spiced and I loved how refreshing this dish was.
Like the starters, Mezze’s main courses were also commendable. I really enjoyed the Angus Tenderloin with Foie Gras as it was cooked medium rare and the foie gras was perfectly done. The Roasted Stuffed Turkey was moist and packed with flavour from the stuffing. I’m generally not a fan of turkey but this version impressed.
Don’t be fooled by the portion of the Crabmeat Lasagna as this is very rich in flavour. The lobster cappucino is concentrated and complements the natural flavour of the crab. If you’re into wines, let Sebastian the in-house sommelier take you through a wine pairing flight which won’t disappoint. I’ve known him for a few years now and his pairings keep getting better!
Sweet endings started with a decadent flourless chocolate cake with salted caramel sauce. This is rich and dense, the way I love my desserts. The black forest meringue was significantly lighter with bittersweet notes from the espresso cream.
The 3-course festive set menus at Mezze is priced at RM160++ per person (X’mas Eve) and RM185++ per person (New Year’s Eve). I highly suggest you top up another RM110 for Sebastian’s wine pairing — 3 glasses.
Book your spot now by calling 03-2095 0122, Michael 016-66378083 or Ling 012-2015794, or email [email protected]. As for me, I can’t wait for the whole turkey I ordered from them to celebrate with my loved ones. If only that turkey order comes with a chef and sommelier hahaha! 😛
