Breakfast at Casa del Rio Melaka

by Bangsar Babe

During my stay at Casa del Rio Melaka a couple of months back, I was pleased to find the breakfast menu tweaked and improved. The concept remained the same – a small but substantial buffet and several ala carte options.

It was the latter options that impressed me. rif and I tried the Eggs Benedict, Croque Madame, Big Breakfast and Eggs en Cocotte, with our favourites being the Croque Madame and Eggs Benedict. Nothing fancy, but they were done well.

Runny yolk

Many establishments offer Eggs Benedict for breakfast or brunch, but only a handful does it well. Casa del Rio’s version was quite decent with barely a hint of vinegar and the hollandaise sauce was made fresh. The Croque Madame was crisp on the outside with a molten cheese centre – good stuff!

Egg Omelette

I didn’t care much for the Eggs en Cocotte though – it was a tad bland. Better was the egg omelette on toast, with bits of turkey ham and chopped vegetables. The hungry should opt for Casa del Rio’s big breakfast, a good sized portion of fried egg, sautéed mushroom and tomatoes, hash brown, turkey ham, baked beans and toast.

Big Breakfast

Compared to my first breakfast experience at Casa del Rio, I have to say, the kitchen has revamped good. From breakfast to lunch, to afternoon tea and then dinner, the F&B quality of the hotel has improved significantly. Of course, there is always room for improvement and I’m glad the team is dedicated to constantly improve. :)
