Expect a good selection of sweet treats at Jam & Kaya Cafe, a cosy spot tucked away in PJ Palm Sports Centre in Petaling Jaya. I liken the ambiance of Jam & Kaya Cafe to one of my favourite brunch places in Sydney – the interior is bright and spacious, and the staff exude a sunny disposition which I find genuine.
We were there on a late Sunday evening and the savoury kitchen had already closed. The person who attended to us was quick to notify us and offer alternatives. One that I happily took – Jam & Kaya Pancake (RM13.90).
The pancakes were light and airy, slathered with a layer of kaya in between and jam on top. This was then topped with mixed berries, maple syrup and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Coffee isn’t quite their forte; at least not yet. While my latte (RM8.90) was adequate, rif’s Americano (RM7.90) wasn’t very good. It was rather sour and this intensified as the coffee cooled.
Overall, I like Jam & Kaya Cafe. There’s still room for improvement for the coffee but the ambiance and pleasant service makes me want to return for the savoury items.
