Despite writing for more than 7 years, I find it tough to constantly find inspiration in what I do – creative, corporate, feature and blog. Little nooks and cafés help in giving me inspiration to write and such an ambiance promotes creative thinking. So I go to one during my off-days, to catch up on some reading and writing.
I was pretty excited to find Caffeinated Cabin, a quirky little café along Jalan Gasing that is fashioned to look like a cabin with large windows to allow plenty of sunlight to come through. Finding the place is tough. There is no signage along the way – just spot the large saloon billboard along the road and you’ve found the place.
Caffeinated Cabin occupies a cosy lot on the right hand corner of the area and parking is limited. Expect to park along the roadside.
We didn’t try the savoury selections but coffee is just average. The Americano had bitter and sour undertones which was palatable, but nothing memorable. They make an elaborate Affogato (RM16.90) here – ice cream with dollops of whipped cream and crazy drizzles of caramel on top, with a shot of espresso. Too sweet for my liking.
The chocolate bar had a touch of ginger to the base so that gave out an interesting combination of flavours – bittersweet and spicy. Not my kind of dessert but not too bad, I thought. If you like a twist to your regular chocolate treat, this might be a good option.
I haven’t tried enough to come to a conclusion about Caffeinated Cabin, but so far, I’m not impressed. I do however like what they’ve done to the place so I’ll come back to try their savoury offerings. 🙂
