It’s been a while since my last visit to Menglembu Wai Sek Kai and the honey chicken stall has since grown into a full shoplot. Unlike the chaos we went through for some chicken, there was hardly a queue this time around. I reckon it’s because we were there towards their closing time.
That didn’t stop us from ordering a feast – two whole honey chicken leg (RM7 each) and two pieces of fried chicken thigh (RM2.80 each). The honey chicken was tasty albeit slightly colder than I liked it to be. It was well caramelised, giving each bite a sticky-sweet finish.
The fried chicken however, was nothing to shout about. I found the meat under seasoned and the skin was hardly crunchy despite being refried. I suggest you stick to the honey chicken and only try the fried version if you have extra stomach space.
The wai sek kai is a bit tricky to get to, but circle around Tranchell Street and you’ll spot the Honey Chicken Wings shop from the large signboard outside. 🙂

Great stuff!!! By the way, any plan to do some ‘exotic’ foods reviews?
Hi Daniel,
No, I think I’ll stay away from exotic food. 🙂
Ah sweet, another spot for me to eat at Ipoh! Are they open all days or do they have rest days? I’m planning to have my Ipoh trip soon (probably next month) and would really love to try their chicken (don’t wanna go there and they’re close)!
Hi Alison,
Their offdays aren’t determined. It would be better for you to call them before heading there. The phone number is in the post.
