Teppan Aji Ichiban, Damansara Utama

by Bangsar Babe

Shum and I went to Teppan Aji Ichiban for lunch today. We initially wanted to go to Hokano but silly me forgot that it’s closed on Tuesdays! Arghh….and we walked all the way there for nothing.Teppan Aji Ichiban is located opposite Uptown 1. The place was empty, with only 2 tables occupied. Even then, they took quite a while to serve our food. I had the Chicken Katsu Set Lunch while Shum tried the Kimuchi Nabeyaki Udon.My Chicken Katsu was very mediocre. The rice was dry – without any gravy, just plain white rice with a piece of chicken katsu on top. The deep fried breaded chicken was also dry. A far cry from the delicious chicken katsudon at Hokano. The miso soup was quite good though. I found 4 pieces of lala inside which gave the broth more body.Mei Shum’s udon dish was quite small. I tried the soup and found it average. It was not “kau” enough. From the looks of it, she didn’t quite enjoy her lunch. She gave me a piece of her salmon, which was tasteless and slightly fishy. For RM13.90, it’s not worth it. Mei Shum said she won’t eat it again. 😛

Lunch cost us RM 32.78 including 2 cups of ocha and 10% service charge. Service was quite satisfactory, but I’d choose Hokano over this anytime.

Ambiance: 6.5/10
Price: 6.5/10
Food: 5/10
Verdict: Prices are reasonable, but the food isn’t up to par.

Hi, you should try their set meal instead of set lunch. They serve nice set meal, I have tried few times, still satisfying 🙂

Hey…thanks! I’ll bear that in mind if I were to go there next time. 😉
