rif, Mike and I went to Ah Wah Hokkien Mee at Damansara Utama (at The Champion Duck place) about two weeks back. Ordered a big plate of Hokkien Mee for the 3 of us. The hokkien mee came coated with slightly sticky, savoury black sauce and laden with generous bits of crunchy pork lard aka “Chu Yau Char”. Shiokness I-tell-you!With plenty of “wok hei”, the mee also comes with slices of lean pork and some greens, presumable Chinese mustard leaves. The noodle texture was just right with no bad alkaline smell (“kan sui”) which was a plus point. Despite the generous lashing of lardy goodness, the noodles were not oily…so it’s not that unhealthy. (rif: Bullocks lah. This is a recipe for heart attack)
Our plate of greasy indulgence cost RM 20 inclusive of drinks which was quite reasonable. We went home well-fed and happy. Mike, when’s the next round?
Verdict: This is the place to go for good Hokkien Mee. Seriously good stuff.
