Chocolate cake is food for my soul. But it can potentially ruin my mood if I don’t get it the way I want and when I want.

You have good old classic chocolate cake that never fails, especially when it’s all nice and moist. And then there’s chocolate lava cake that is decadent and molten at the centre. When done right, the latter is an absolute treat but mess it up and it’s a freaking disaster.

Chocolate lava cake can be a real pain to wait for when you’re in need of an immediate pick-me-up. This is when the classic chocolate cake trumps it for being quick and reliably comforting. One can always attempt to have both, but too much of a good thing isn’t always good for you.
