rif and I have been looking around and seeking opinions for a new bed, in preparation for our new home. As sleep is very important to me (I get 6 hours of sleep a day, sometimes less), I need a good bed – most importantly, mattress. After doing quite a number of hotel reviews and enjoying plush beds in the room, I wanted a bed that was just as comfortable and long lasting.
With that in mind, I went searching for a bed and a friend who works in the hotel line mentioned Getha is the preferred choice when it comes to hotel beds. We went to the Getha flagship store in Jalan Universiti and checked out the various types of mattress collection on offer.
The ‘right’ mattress differs from one individual to another. If you sleep on your back, you might need a firmer mattress and if you sleep on your tummy, a softer mattress might suit you better. The only way to find out is to try different mattresses until you find the right one.
Based on my requirements, I tried out a few mattresses from the Eco Kingdom, Togetha Series and the Transforme 360° series. The Eco Kingdom series offers unique body contouring abilities and good ventilation with high degree of heat dispersion.
Togetha series combines the best in technology and precious natural resources for a truly cleaner and healthier sleep solution. I liked the Togetha Organic Cotton 100 – with an amazing fabric combination of organic cotton/ bamboo charcoal/nano silver protection in its fabric offers all the necessary elements to support a healthy and comfortable night’s sleep.
But the Transforme 360° Pocket Spring was THE perfect mattress for me. It was firm enough to give me support in a neutral position (where my spine, buttocks, shoulders and head are supported in proper alignment), yet cosy enough to make me feel at ease.
Don’t be shy about lying on the beds in the showroom because that’s why they are there for! A bed is a long term investment and it needs to feel really good; the Transforme 360° Pocket Spring was just that. rif too, thought it was the best mattress we have tried so far.
We also decided on the mattress size – king size, because the general rule of thumb is to buy the biggest bed you can fit into the room. And our bedroom is large enough to fit a king size mattress. Also, rif happens to be 6ft tall so a queen size mattress would be too small.
Once we agreed on the mattress, it was time to look for the right divan and headboard. I wasn’t going to sleep on my awesome mattress on the bedroom floor, and a divan without a headboard is like wearing a little black dress with no accessories.
Since we are going to live in an apartment and the lifts, our front door and bedroom door are pretty narrow, we had to make sure the divan could be dismantled and properly transported from the store to our bedroom. We picked the Togetha Box Divan (180cm x 200cm) because that can be separated for transporting purposes. It also comes with two wheels at the front for easy portability.
I quite liked the headboard with the label “His and Hers” because I could embroider what I wanted on it, but rif preferred the V3 Headboard. His choice made more sense because it matched our divan better. Oh well, I’ll embroider our pillow cases then hehe.
Like choosing a mattress, the choice of a pillow also depends on your preference. A good pillow will support your neck and keep your head in line with your spine.
If you sleep on your tummy, you might want to choose a softer pillow to ease the strain on your neck. If you sleep on your back, a firmer pillow would support the neck and back better. We opted for the Soft Latex Pillow and skipped the bolster because I don’t use one and rif uses me as one.
After shopping around for our idea of a perfect bed set, we feel that Getha offers the best mattresses in the market. Our new bed set really feels like a hotel bed and I cannot wait to have it in our new home! :D

this makes me wanna get a new bed for myself too! my current bed and mattress is from ikea, and it’s served me very well since 2003, but it does feel like it’s slumping somewhat these days…
If the mattress is starting to feel ‘floppy’, it’s time to change. ;)
6 and less hours sleep? 7 hrs is minimum for beauty sleep dear. Anyway you have enough great looks for the uncompensated rest. Pillow,..latex? what is your opinion on down feathers? Whats a decent price for a mattress to last you atleast 10 yrs?
Thanks! I don’t have much time as I juggle with work and the blog. Would love 8 hours of sleep daily!
For me, about RM5-7K for a good mattress is fair. I used to be cheap and bought the RM2K ones. They never lasted longer than 5 years.
oops, its andrew william and not name,..LOL
I agreed on choosing the right mattress. Bad mattress will affect your sleep and end up body aching. Then automatically will be in bad mood oso. Getha is a good choice.
Thanks dear. I think so too. My parents have been buying other brands all this while, and after two years, I noticed my mattress sinks in because of my weight. Then I realised it’s because there’s not much spring support.
Now my parents are planning to buy Getha for my siblings too hehe. ;)

Hi, I heard some ppl complaining the latex started to sink after some times, hav u experiencing any sinking issue?
Hi Jonathan,
So far so good. I’m really enjoying the mattress so far. :)
My Getha latex mattress had obvious depression after 4 years. Still using it (with depression), now at 8 years.
Sorry to hear about that. Perhaps you could relate this to the Getha folks and see if they can do anything about it?
Do you mean obvious body impression? And probably sagging? Which model was yours?
how mush is eco kingdom king size?
Hi Nancy,
Please contact Getha to inquire further. The contact details are in the official website linked at the end of the blogpost. Thanks.
I love my Getha Eco Kingdom mattress too! Just got it about a month ago and I enjoy lying on bed and sleeping on it (of course!). But I wonder if you use a mattress protector with yours? My mattress keeps shedding the furry topper with the protector. :(
Hi Daphne,
My mattress cover is from Jusco. It’s quite good and I haven’t experienced your issue before.
It’s been 2 years since. Is the matteress still as good?
Yes, it’s still as good. No problems with it. :)
Hi,
It has been 4yrs plus, how is the condition of your mattress now? I’m considering a few brands and Getha is one of it. But I’ve read some poor reviews online about sagging and body impression issues.
Hi May,
My mattress is still in good condition. :)
Sagging and body impression are two different things. Body Impression can be expected after long years of usage as the mattress will follow the shape and contour of your body to provide better custom comfort and support. Sagging on the other hand is a manufacturing defect, where you can find noticeable mattress sinking of about 3-5 cm. Based on my own experience, I find Getha’s mattress durable and really comfortable (possibly because the mattress has adapted to my body’s contour). Mattress sagging can happen due to the quality of materials and (more commonly) bad bedframe. If you’re using a bedframe with large holes, your mattress will sag, no matter how good the brand.
I’m using the Getha Transforme 360, which is no longer available. They have newer models so perhaps you should go to the outlet to test it for yourself? Cos I can only vouch for the mattress I’m using. :)
