Chicken rice is a universal dish so people buy it when they can’t think of anything better to eat. I started disliking chicken rice when my mum fed me with her homemade chicken rice every weekend, after learning how to cook it from a friend. I remember telling her I liked that auntie’s chicken rice and the next thing I knew, I was eating it every weekend.
Then there were those dreadful pageant and modeling assignments where the crew gave everyone chicken rice to eat, and it was always chicken breast inside my packet. Awful, just awful! So when rif (who hates chicken rice as much as I do) asked me to try the chicken rice at Taman Miharja, I gave him my what-the-hell-did-you-just-suggest-for-lunch look. But still, he insisted we should give it a try as his colleague highly recommended it.
We tried one plate of chicken rice, just in case we end up disliking it. I wanted to have the steamed chicken, but they ran out so I settled for the roast chicken instead. The chicken was quite decent; the flesh was smooth and tender with a firm bite. They could have gone easy on the gravy, as it was a tad salty.
I didn’t care much for the rice, but the chilli sauce provided added oomph to the overall dish. On a whole, it wasn’t too bad. If I’m within the vicinity, I wouldn’t mind having this again. After I get my pan mee fix.

Food: 6.5/10 (non halal)
Verdict: Decent chicken rice but not good enough to make me a convert. I’ll come back to try the steamed chicken next round!
