The latest coffee outlet in Bangsar – Coffea Coffee – has been making big waves, as it serves coffee beans from seven top producing farms across the globe. After rave comments from a few friends, rif and I skipped our usual coffee place and checked out Coffea Coffee.
We liked the look and feel of the place; spacious with plenty of wood element. Service was also quite good. The staff were efficient and pleasant, despite the high volume of people that evening. I ordered a Maestro latte while rif had a Colombian Supremo.
His coffee was milder than I expected it to be. Usually, I order a Colombian when I need a caffeine kick, but Coffea Coffee’s version was light bodied with a mild acidity. If the Colombian is this mild, I wonder how the Ethiopian will taste like. Maybe I should find out.
My latte was disappointing. I picked the bold Maestro because I like stronger lattes. While it was far from a terrible cup, it wasn’t something I’d order again. The coffee flavour was rather subdued and it didn’t have a rich aroma as advertised. I think I’d stick to the Single Origins, or request for a double shot. If that’s possible.
I guess it’s a matter of preference, as the flock of people at Coffea Coffee would probably stone me to death disagree with me.

I did like their Maestro…most probably due its chocolatey aftertaste…haha :P

I wonder if the water used to make a cup, makes the difference?
It’s more the water temperature I think. But I’m no coffee expert. So don’t just take my word for it.
Friend of mine went there shortly after it opened. Think it was shortly after it opened but he had an experience that left him not wanting to go back. The first server couldn’t speak English and the second, when my friend asked which coffee he recommended, said he didn’t really like coffee. Not really customer service you’d expect in Bangsar for a new place, and kinda fundamental if it’s going to survive!
The server said he didn’t like coffee?? That’s ridiculous!
I own a kopitiam but I dont drink my own coffee too!
