Group buying deals are often tempting, especially when there’s more a 50% discount, or more. The Yogitree offer on Dealmates was RM28 for 3 pieces of pesto chicken bruschetta, 3 pieces of caramelised onion bruschetta, 2 raisin scones, 2 macarons, a slice of cake and 2 cups of tea.
That to me, sounded like a really good deal. So I bought one and went there for afternoon tea with rif. We were given all that was promised, but the food wasn’t as great as people claimed it to be. I didn’t care much for either of the bruschetta – the base was over toasted and hard.
I found the macarons rather awful. And while the restaurant claims they don’t use colouring or preservatives, the green tea flavoured one looked too garish to pass off as au natural. The macaron shell was very sweet and grainy, it was hardly worth the extra calories. The scones were also average tasting and I didn’t care much for the light cream and jelly-like jam provided.
To be fair, the cake – chocolate truffle torte – we had was quite decent. Dense and rich, with a deep chocolate flavour, rif chose well. He tends to choose better cakes and desserts than I do, because he has a good eye.
On a whole, the deal was good value for money. But I didn’t think too highly of the items we had above.

Ambiance: 7/10
Price: 4/10 (non promotion)
Food: 5/10 (pork free)
Verdict: Nothing worth raving about, but I wouldn’t mind having the chocolate truffle torte again.

Hahaha! Okok…will try their mains.
Ahh….too bad. I thought it was a good buy.
I thought so too. Sadly it was just an average deal, quality wise. :(
Quite a full afternoon tea session after all?
It was filling. But hardly memorable.
