Today, I ran my first marathon (or more like half marathon) – 7km in 1 hours. But it feels like I ran for longer. My legs feel like jelly.
I didn’t think I did too badly. I jogged for about 5km, brisk walked for the other 2km and sprinted the last 50m. And I got a certificate to prove it. No medal though. I think that’s for those who finish within 45 minutes.
That’s breakfast after the marathon. Going back to sleep now. Zzzzz…
UPDATE: Now that I’m better rested, I gave some thought about the marathon and found it rather poorly managed. When rif and I collected our t-shirts the day before, we were told they only had size XS left. That’s bad planning on their side because when we signed up for the marathon, we specified our preferred t-shirt size. How can they not have size left?
And they said they would courier the t-shirt to rif, AFTER the marathon. That’s just dumb. I didn’t wear my t-shirt because the fabric felt rough against my skin. And I didn’t want to be a running advertisement for the sponsors. At the traffic light of Western Digital (almost 3km away from the finishing point), we were stopped for almost 2 minutes to allow the cars to drive past. We should be given priority because that stop messed with our momentum.
I didn’t notice any first aid help on stand-by throughout the run. What if someone fainted? Or if someone collapsed?
Right now, I’m nursing a joint ache on my right knee. That’s my bad knee, caused by long rehearsals in 5-6 inch heels during pageants. I hope I don’t have to hobble to work tomorrow.

wow, i don’t think i could have completed 3km in an hour (i’m ultra-unfit!). and i’m almost ashamed to say that i just woke up, hours after you completed your run :D
Hahaha! I’m just kiasu. :P
Well done, at least you took part in it! Aiks, thosai after half marathon, lol, I thought you would go for dim sum.
Didn’t feel like having dim sum. Too heavy la!
Don’t mean to nitpick, BB, or to take anything away from your achievement (cos I can’t even run more than 4km at a go LOL), but doesn’t “half marathon” normally refer to 21-ish km? Full marathon being 42-ish km.
Yeah, technically it’s not a marathon. But I guess that’s why they call it a half marathon. Hehe
