StarMetro Feature, and some clarifications

by Bangsar Babe

Dear readers,

I am aware of your grave concern towards animal conservation and I would like to stress that I do not endorse consumption of exotic and illegal meats. While it is true that the “The weirdest thing I have tried is snake, tiger and crocodile”, I was given these as a child and consumed it without realising the significance then. Perhaps I should have made that statement clearer during my interview with StarMetro.

This article has raised a lot of eyebrows and I would like to clarify that I am all for the conservation of endangered species. While my food trails are adventurous, illegal game was never part of them and I will make it a personal effort to ensure it never comes close to that.

Excuse me Ms. Lynn, you are only mentioning it now that you tasted weird meat when you were a child. This sounds to me like some damage control line that you are playing with to cover up the damage you have caused. You are right that you should have made it clear to the press on this situation. But now damage has been done as you have sent the wrong message to readers who are not aware that consuming exotic meat is illegal and damaging. I strongly suggest you come out with a press statement clarifying that you actually consumed these exotic meat when you were a child.

Nature lover,

You are obviously an ignorant bigoted and cynical bloke. You write as if you are someone who is infallible, without blemish and hide behind that pseudonym. Your words are harsh, without any tact and void of wisdom. Judgmental and derogatory. If you truly love nature, love your own kind first and don’t shove your “holier-than-thou-animal-loving” believes onto other people’s face.

Dear Bangsar Babe and Josh Lee, I commented because I wanted to highlight the sensitivity of the word tiger meat in the interview and nothing personal about it. And I believe, Bangsar Babe have clarified on the quote. Thanks for that.
My intentions were clear but I believe the way I commented was not in the best way possible. And I respect you both for highlighting it to me. I apologize if I have offended Bangsar Babe and for the way I presented my comments. I too am always learning to improve.
I wish you blessed married life Bangsar Babe and all the best. Thank you for making a stand to conserve wildlife. Hope you too can spread the conservation message across to your fans. All the best.

i believe croc meat is not exotic or illegal, are they? you get plenty of it in australia.

as for snakes and tigers, that sounds pretty exotic haha.

I don’t know about croc meat. I guess not as exotic as tiger. Yeah, I heard it’s common to eat crocodiles in Australia.

Tiger meat is not exotic meat. It is ILLEGAL meat. Be responsible with what you write and stop referring to it as if it’s some delicacy.

hahah… count my eyebrows as one of those that were raised by your statement.

glad you clarified the issue XD

Btw, I think only tiger meat is illegal (among the 3 you have tried)

Yeah, the misquote was quite bad. I’m glad you understand the situation. :)

quoted fr the Star article “Another reason why I am passionate about food is because of my family’s particularity. Everything has to be very organic when it comes home-cooked food. We eat brown rice and do not eat processed meats.”

quoted fr the clarification statement “While it is true that the “The weirdest thing I have tried is snake, tiger and crocodile”, I was given these as a child and consumed it without realising the significance then.”

Tot that ur family is into health + organic food. Pretty surprise to find out that u were fed with snake, tiger and crocodile when u were a child in ur later statement. Of course, here, I’m assuming that u were fed by ur family with those food. Correct me if I’m wrong as I’m totaly confused with the 2 statements

No, not by my parents. But you know la…15-20 years ago in the villages, people didn’t really know what wildlife conservation meant.

It is hard for me to clarify each and every statement in the article, like how “crocodile” suddenly came into the picture. I have never eaten crocodile, but have no idea why it was mentioned.

i don’t think these things should be held accountable when it happened 15-20 yrs ago. back then, people didn’t think eating sharks’ fin was wrong. but with education NOW only people learn. give her a break :)

understand her predicament. but she should have the presence of mind of what can or cannot be said NOW in a national newspaper; especially in the context of an interview with a significant member of the society. it’s not something she should be proud of!

Yeah, it’s not something I’m proud of.

no worries, tts what that happns when scatterbrainners try to write ANNOYING food reviews where everything is sooooooo ‘annoying’ and the best of food can be 6.5 and aim for own culinary shows with ANNOYING mumblings and all that ANNOYING batting of eyelids and ANNOYING head creaking and ANNOYING cluelessness of one’s shortcomings. Anyway, Happy Wedded Life, perhaps that will be the true calling!

I think this clarification is more than sufficient. Bangsar babe was misquoted and it was a simple mix-up. If Star readers insist on taking what they read wholesale, all I can say is that the quality of our papers, like our leaders, are a reflection of ourselves. Sue Lynn is not lacking in credibility and I see no reason to believe this is merely an exercise in damage control. What I see instead is a case of other people putting words in her mouth, intentional or otherwise.
@tsalokath do you have a point? Besides showing off your extensive vocabulary? :)

Fuck all these haters. Here’s someone who eats food, reviews it and looks good while doing it. yet you crucify her when there’s a misquote. wished all of you had the same passion towards more important matters i.e. FUCKING POLITICS AND NATIONAL WELFARE.

so what if she had tiger / snake meat. i’ve had turtle eggs, monkey brains. AND NOT TO MENTION ALL THOSE OTHER CHINESE PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF HAVING SHARK FIN E-V-E-R-Y O-T-H-E-R TRADITIONAL OCCASION/FESTIVITIES.
but those actions were in the past when i was ignorant. since then i have striven to be a environmentally conscious individual as i’m sure bangsar babe is and always will be. (p.s. i hope you didnt have shark fin soup on your wedding night else my argument would be rendered mute)

Babe, congrats on getting married, that lucky bastard ;) . looking foward to posts on FAMILY food trips i.e. bangsar baby tsk, tsk =)
