Home Food Reviews Smokehouse @ Bangsar
There are days where I just want to people-watch over some scones and tea, so you can probably find me at Smokehouse, Bangsar during the weekends. I go there often for their teatime set (RM18), which comprises scones with clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam, apple pie, brownie, butter cake, sandwich and a pot of coffee/tea.They don’t serve Tetley tea, only Boh tea. And neither do they serve freshly brewed coffee (unless I pay an extra RM6) – very disappointing, since I don’t like Nescafe. So I brought my own tea, and have been doing so the last two times I went. There’s quite a big difference between Tetley and Boh. I find Tetley more fragrant and more pleasant to drink. rif thought I was nuts…until he tried it for himself. My love for scones started when I was 9. My English teacher would reward me with a scone for a good essay (people seem to like using food to reward me ~_~). I ate scones almost every day in the UK, because it was cheap and clotted cream was easily available. Smokehouse serves good clotted cream and strawberry jam. Their scones are buttery, moist and crumbly. Not the best, but certainly one of the better ones I’ve tried. I didn’t like the apple pie; the crust was too hard and the filling wasn’t tangy or sweet enough. The sandwich, brownie and butter cake were nothing to shout about. But they were good tummy fillers.

Service was and has always been slow. But I’ve learnt to ignore their inefficiency because they turn a blind eye each time I use my own tea/ask for extra clotted cream.

Ambiance: 6.5/10
Price: 6/10
Scones: 7.5/10
The others: 5/10 (pork-free)
Verdict: You have to try their scones with clotted cream and homemade jam!

Will definitely have to try this one. Love scones! So far I've been having the one's at Coffee Bean. Cheap, satisfying, and doesn't feel too sinful. Served with butter and jam. Have you tried the scones at Delicious though?

Jason – You're most welcome!

Charlie – I didn't like the scones at Delicious. Try Smokehouse's version. It's one of the few good ones I've had in KL. Cannot compare to UK of course…

Vivien – I've had good ones at Ritz Carlton (Afternoon tea). Expensive, but nice!

iamthewitch – Ya lor…best!!
