Home Food Reviews Be Lohas Cafe @ Damansara Utama

I’ve driven past Be Lohas Cafe at Damansara Uptown every morning on my way to work, but have never tried the food there. Until yesterday. It is an organic vegetarian shop located along the same row as Hong Leong Bank.

Space was limited in the restaurant. I was unfortunate enough to be seated behind two very fidgety children, who treated their wooden chair as a rocking chair, and my back as the wall. According to the waitress, the curry mee is one of their best seller. Instead of coconut milk, the curry gravy is cooked using organic soy milk. I found the gravy too milky – it lacked kick, flavour and aroma. It was also too sweet for my liking. They added too much molasses into the broth. I ordered a set meal (RM13.90), so the noodles came with an enzyme drink and pickles. The enzyme drink was a mix of apple cider and honey. It tasted very sour, and I found it hard to drink. Unless you love apple cider, skip this. I took one bite of the pickled cabbage, but I just couldn’t swallow it. The cabbage was pickled with apple cider; a horrible combination. Mum had worse luck with her Hokkien Mee (RM8.90). It tasted so sweet, we thought the chef made a mistake by using sugar instead of salt. I cannot stand eating sweet food, when it is meant to be savoury. My mum didn’t and couldn’t finish this. Service was all over the place, and the waitress was rude. It might be their bad day, but after this experience, I don’t think I would eat here again. At least not in the near future.

Ambiance: 6.5/10
Price: 5/10
Food: 1/10 (halal)
Verdict: The food was too sweet, and service wasn’t up to par.

Eeep.. I could put up with mediocre food, but rude waiting service? I don't think so :-(

Better luck somewhere else ;-) Cheers from back in Abu Dhabi …

foodbin – I actually like eating organic food, but this one isn't to my liking. Everything tasted too sweet.

leo – The items on the rack are alright, but the food cannot pass la. Looks good, but tastewise… *sweat*

iamthewitch – Hahaha….I so get what you mean!!

Julian – Yeah…bad service is a big no-no.

vialentino – Try Country Farm Organics…I think it's nicer!
