Home Food Reviews Frontera Bar & Grill @ Jaya One

After hearing good things about Frontera, my expectations of the place were set higher. It wasn’t a full house that night, partly because of the massive downpour. Good for us, as rif and I got a nice big table to ourselves.
rif hardly drinks, and I don’t like drinking alone, so we ordered a glass of Coke (RM4.95) each. I asked for a glass of water as well, but the waiter said they only serve bottled water. Strange, because other tables had glasses of plain, unbottled water.I wanted to order the Frontera burger, but our waiter recommended the Chili Cheese Burger (RM22.95) instead. It was quite good. The patty was thick, juicy and beefy, and the chilli con carne topping added more flavour and texture to it. My only gripe was the lack of melted cheese. But I’m just greedy. You might find the cheese ratio just right.Country Fried Steak was interesting, but it’s not something I would order again. I prefer my steak without the flour coating. That said, the meat was tender and paired well with the homemade cream sauce. I liked the mash potatoes, which came with bits of potato skin. Frontera Chimichanga (RM23.95) was generously filled with cheese and chicken. We liked this better than the steak. The Mexican rice tasted quite plain on its own, but it was delicious with the refried beans. After the chimichanga (rif and I shared 3 mains!), we were too stuffed to consider desserts. I’ll be back to try their chilli brownies and of course, margaritas!

Ambiance: 6/10
Price: 5/10
Food: 6.5/10 (pork-free)
Verdict: Pretty good food, but service needs more work.

Haha, I was hoping you'll try their habanero chili. :)
And live to tell the tale …

Ah, the chili burger is really appetizing. I ate the spicy hot chicken wing during the Tiger Run. I nearly puke out when running.

I was here since quite a long time ago, even before Kenny Sia featured it.

Yes, their burgers are pretty decent but the thing that makes me wanna come back is the KEY LIME PIE, which you had not the opportunity to try yet. We shall do that together some day yes?

By the way they are having an ongoing promotion: RM15 nett per pint of draft Guinness stout, from 10pm onwards EVERYDAY. Also on promo is the beer, and margaritas cheaper by 2 bucks.

Frontera.. isn't this place famous for the chicken wings? Anyway the burger does look huge! And juicy! And I don't like fried steaks too…

The habanero chilli wings are spicy but meh, I'm sure Sue Lynn can handle it. When we going?

The fried steak sound odd, will the steak become "old"?
