Home Food Reviews Eggs en cocotte, anyone?

Eggs are one of my favourite things to eat. Scrambled, poached, boiled, soft-boiled, omelette, sunny side up — I like them all. But I couldn’t be bothered to make them fancy. I usually just chuck them in hot water for 8 minutes, crack them open and drizzle some soy sauce on top. Or when I attempt to be a good girlfriend, I scramble them for rif. Come to think of it, I haven’t made him breakfast for quite some time now. Jeen is the opposite of me. She loves experimenting with eggs and I’m not complaining, since I am her assigned guinea pig. I usually sleep in on Sundays, but the thought of baked eggs (also called eggs en cocotte in French) is enough to make me drag myself out of bed. They are simple, yet elegant, and easily dressed up with https://www.phpaide.com/download.php?langue=fr&id=1 bacon, mushrooms, chives, or whatever you can get your hands on. I munched on some fresh cherry tomatoes while watching Jeen prepare the eggs. They seemed relatively simple to make. She added prosciutto and chopped onions into the eggs, ligthly seasoned them with some salt and pepper and sprinkled some shredded cheddar cheese on top.

In the oven

Gooey orange-tinged yolk. Yum…

They were delicious and creamy and indulgent. Savoury from the prosciutto, sweet from the caramelised onions and rich from the cheese and cream. Mmmmmmmm….. As rif sat there eating his baked eggs, I knew he was hinting for a breakfast of baked eggs from me soon. Errrr…I’ll just sprinkle some bacon and cheese in his soft-boiled eggs and zap it in the microwave, can or not? =P

nothing beats the taste of a warm, soft yolk that breaks open in your mouth! i'd eat 'em all the time if not for cholesterol anxiety :D

oink – I've actually zapped eggs in the microwave before (only once, and like 8 years ago), out of laziness

IT DOES NOT WORK

i got a fully cooked egg yolk splattered on me and gross rubbery whites.

I'm worse. I dun even bother to boil nor fry them. Chuck them in that half-boiled egg apparatus and relish.

J2Kfm, you don't need a half-boiled egg apparatus to make half-boiled egg. What I did was get a mug or cup, pour in hot-boiled water and put in the eggs, cover up for a few minutes.

Eggs is a faithful friend. I enjoyed having hard-boiled with pepper and soy sauce at night.

If the eggs are prepared with some TLC, it doesn't matter how it taste like. It'll always be good.
