Home Food Reviews Meatball Lasagna @ William’s, Taman Mayang

Ask anyone in PJ whether they have heard of William’s in Taman Mayang. Chances are, they have. William’s place has been around even before I started college, and it is always packed with people. rif and I go there every now and then, for a quick yet hearty bite. Besides our regular order of loh shi fun (which by the way has dropped in standard), we decided to try the meatball lasagna. It took about 20-25 minutes to prepare, and was big enough to feed two people. I could barely finish this. The lasagna contained chunks of minced beef, layered between the pasta sheets, béchamel sauce and tomato based sauce. It tasted decent, but nothing spectacular. If you love meaty lasagnas, you’ll probably like this. Halfway through the lasagna, I started to find it too meaty (and this is coming from a meat lover). The meatballs were large and generously filled with mozzarella cheese in the centre. I thought they could use a bit more seasoning, as they were not flavourful enough for me. The lasagna did not contain any mushrooms — it would have helped tone down the meatiness of the dish. Come to think of it, it might have been intentional, as William puts a lot of meat into his food.

The lasagna was alright, but it was nothing to shout about. I would recommend sharing this, unless you are really hungry or have a monstrous appetite. That said, this tasted better than the lasagna I had recently ate in SS2.

*Previous visit here.

Ambiance: 1/10
Price: 6.5/10
Food: 5.5/10
Verdict: The lasagna isn’t fantastic, but the portions are hearty and value for money.

Food is nothing to shout about , prices are not really cheap … but William's is more about "CAN DO!" .

I love the place, simply cos' it is ball-sey enough to be different (and subsequently imitated by others!).

CHEERS :-)

Julian – Yup. It's the gutsy dishes that appeal to most people.

nomad – So sad hor? I wished he did something about the QC. But hey, still better than that "glorified" lasagna we had recently. That one ah….phtttoiii!!
