Société Café (located outside Isetan) has a decor similar to cafes and bistros in Paris. Its French-inspired decor makes the place quaint and cozy. However, the menu was anything but French – they offer Western and local food. The Fried Tofu (RM7.80) was ordered for starters. While the tofu was alright, the accompanying chili sauce was very bland. Not something I would order again.rif’s father had the Cantonese Beef Kuay Teow (RM12.80), which to me didn’t look appetizing at all. The beef slices were so tough, it was like chewing leather. The watery and insipid gravy only made things worse. The Spaghetti Marinara (RM21) was terribly disappointing. While the portion was generous, the seafood tasted like it has been in the freezer for a long time. Slimy fish slices and musty-tasting mussels puts me off. The gravy was too thick and tasted like it came from the can.rif and his mum both had the Colonial Rest House Chicken Chop (RM21.80), which was just as bad. Think very dry, cardboard-textured chicken and overly sweet tomato-based sauce. The fries were the best tasting thing on the plate that night. For dessert. we decided to skip their cakes and shared two bowls of Ais Kacang (RM6.80). The ice shaving was rough and it was full of syrup. A colourful nightmare, this one. Dinner cost RM113.60 inclusive of service charge and tax.
