Home Food Reviews Vicchuda Tom Yam Restaurant, Damansara Utama

When I’m craving for a good tom yam, I usually head over to Vicchuda in Damansara Utama to get my fix. Vicchuda is a Thai food restaurant located at the row facing LDP (same row as Champion Duck and Maybank). Dan and Roy both ordered the Paprik Ayam with rice, while Shum had their Nasi Goreng Ikan Masin. I stuck to my usual order of Nasi Pattaya. We had a bowl of tom yam each; Shum ordered the tom yam sotong while the rest of us asked for tom yam campur.
The paprik chicken was not bad. The piquant gravy was very nice with white rice and a side of chili belacan. Shum’s salted fish rice was also pretty tasty, albeit slightly on the salty side. Well, I guess they don’t call it salted fish fried rice for nothing. My Pattaya fried rice came wrapped in an egg omelette. Beneath the egg-wrapping was a serving of fragrant fried rice with chunky chicken slices. Well-fried, I enjoyed every spoonful with plenty of chili belacan. Yum!
The tom yam was tasty. Spicy and rich in flavour, it came with onions, lemongrass, tomato slices and chicken, beef and squid slices. Shum’s tom yam sotong tasted the same. Only, she had all the squid she wanted to herself. :DLunch cost me RM12 inclusive of one teh ais. Pretty reasonable for a satisfying lunch. If you happen to be around the area, do give it a try.

Ambiance: 5/10
Price: 6.5/10
Food: 7/10 (halal)
Verdict: A no-frills Thai place that serves pretty good food at decent prices.

simplegirl – Yeap, I think it’s Malay Thai style. Very Kelantanese feel.

Mei Shum – If you’re good, then we can go there. ;)

j2kfm – not sure if they were operating elsewhere before. But I know they have a branch in Kota Damansara.

Ya…parking’s a bitch around that area. I guess one has to park at the open-air carpark nearby and walk.

Or park illegally and risk getting a *love letter*. :D

Yes, you should go try! RM6 is for one person’s portion. Even so, I guess it’s pretty reasonable.
