I read a lot of promising reviews about Village Park, Damansara Uptown but never got around to trying it (despite working nearby). Hence I decided to see what the fuss was all about for lunch today. At 12.15pm, the place was packed with people. As it was my first time here, I stuck to the dish with the most recommendations – Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng and Iced Special White Coffee. Shum had the Nasi Dagang set and Kedondong juice & sour plum (RM2.50). The coffee was quite fragrant, though not as fragrant as Pappa Kopitiam’s. I didn’t try Shum’s drink, but she said it was nice. Sour and refreshing. The nasi dagang was really tasty. Served with a side of ikan tongkol and acar, the glutinous rice was fragrant and slightly creamy. The fish was firm and nice, with very little bones. The curry was thick with a strong hint of lemongrass. My nasi lemak ayam goreng was just as good. The rice was fluffy yet firm to the bite. With just the right moistness, it had a rich coconut taste and was very fragrant. The sambal was fiery red, slightly sweet and not overly spicy. The ayam goreng was something I looked forward to have, as rif told me they do a pretty mean fried chicken. Well-marinated with plenty of spices, the chicken was crispy on the outside with tender, juicy flesh inside. Having the whole chicken leg to myself was simply satisfying!
Food: 8/10 (halal)
Verdict: Tasty food, reasonable prices. They also have a wide selection of nasi campur Melayu.
