Home Food Reviews Wong Kok Char Chan Teng, Pavilion KL

rif wanted to go to Wong Kok Char Chan Teng for dinner. Though I don’t really fancy these Hong Kong establishments, it’s probably one of the more affordable places to dine (other than the food court) at Pavilion. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and a great view of the KL twin towers. We didn’t get to sit by the window though. o_0
I ordered the mixed chop set. The set comes with a soup, main course, garlic bread, dessert and a drink. I had the borsch soup and the iced milk tea. rif went for the cheese baked rice with pork chop (as he always does o_0) and original iced milk tea. We also ordered a French Toast to share.rif’s “special” milk tea tasted very much like mine. Only thicker because the ice was placed outside the drink. Still….not worth RM4.20. It was a very “atas” teh ais. Heh! I opted for black pepper sauce to go with my mixed chop. My dish was very average. I didn’t quite enjoy it. The meat was tasteless, especially the beef. Luckily, the black pepper sauce gave it some flavour. The borsch soup tasted very diluted…like tomato ketchup in water. The garlic bread was normal…and the jelly tasted like those cheap hypermarket house brand jams.rif’s cheese-baked rice with pork chop and red sauce was mediocre as well. The portion was slightly on the small side and the gravy was too mild. The bamboo basket the rice came in had a big hole. rif accidentally tore the aluminum foil and the rice fell out from under the basket. o_0The French Toast was probably the best thing we ordered. Creamy peanut butter encased in fluffy toast topped with butter and drizzled with honey. Yumm! If only I had a cold glass of milk to go with it. :P

Dinner came up to RM 50.95 including 5% tax and 10% service charge. Overall, the food is not great and I found it rather expensive. It is however a good place to hangout and enjoy the great view.

Ambiance: 8/10
Price: 6/10
Food: 5.5/10
Verdict: I don’t like the food in general…except the French Toast. But that’s probably because I’m not a fan of char chan tengs.

I didn’t want to upset you, since you choose the place. If not then our “kai kai” not nice anymore ma…o_0

I said “ok la”…not “not bad”. And you should know how I tend to be more “brutal” when I write. ;P
